Blue Cross – Insurance

Blue Cross is an insurance company in Quebec that covers various personal health and travel insurance programs. As of April 1, 2020, Blue Cross requires that all massage therapists, kinesitherapists and orthotherapists be registered on their list of service providers. If you are not on the Blue Cross list of massage, kinesitherapy or orthotherapy providers, a client insured with Blue Cross may be denied reimbursement by the insurer. Note that you do not need to have 1000 hours of training to register.

You can register online by filling out the form right here. If you encounter any difficulties while registering, we invite you to contact Blue Cross directly at 1 888 822-5383.

However, here are a few guidelines to help you fill out the form easily.

• Fill in all mandatory fields marked with a red asterisk.
• The business address is the address at which you perform your care. If you only do work at the client’s home, you can enter your home address. If you have more than one business address, you must contact Blue Cross Client Service to add the other addresses. Note that the address entered in the form will be found in the insurer’s provider directory. If you do not wish your address to be visible in this directory, you must contact Blue Cross Client Service to inform them.
• In the “Provider Type” field, you must select the “Paramedical” option.
• In the “Specialty” field, select the “Massage Therapist” option, even if you are a kinesitherapist or orthotherapist.
• In the “College/Association” field, you can enter “Réseau des massothérapeutes professionnels” or “RMPQ”.
• If you are not already registered as a provider, you do not need to fill out the “Blue Cross Provider Number” field.
• In the “License/Registration Number” field, enter your membership number.
• You are not required to register for direct deposit or add any documents.

What is the difference with Medavie Blue Cross?

Medavie Blue Cross is a division of Blue Cross Insurance Company that provides insurance programs to Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). In order to qualify as a massage therapy, kinesitherapy or orthotherapy service provider for this program, you must have a minimum of 1000 hours of training on file.
