Massage therapy basic training

Each therapist who wishes to become a member of the Réseau must have at least 400 hours of training, including one of the recognized basic techniques.

Characteristics of each program

The core programs recognized by the Réseau all meet a rigorous set of criteria. These assure us that the graduates who have benefited from this training have the skills and knowledge necessary to practice massage therapy in a proper, safe and professional manner. Each basic training recognized by the Réseau includes four aspects that are essential to any massage therapist: a massage technique, the anatomy of the human body, a client-based approach and ethics and deontology.

Beyond the criteria that have to be met, the approaches chosen by the different recognized educational institutions vary greatly. Therefore, it is important to take the time to learn about the approach of the different institutions that offer the program you are interested in.

In continuing education

Some techniques found in basic massage therapy training can be studied via continuing education in some schools. A therapist that graduates in massage therapy (400 hours) with a massage technique could study the 2nd technique via continuing education. We invite you to get more information from the school you wish to attend or consult our continuing education page.

* Although the Réseau updates this page on a regular basis, please note that the information in it is provided for informational purposes only. It is possible that educational institutions have changed their training offerings without notifying us or that the training you are looking for is no longer offered at the time of your research. We, therefore, invite you to confirm the information directly with the massage therapy academic institution. Please note that most courses are offered in French institutions. Please contact the academic institutions for more information.
