Training meetings

In an effort to present training that will contribute to the professional development of its members, the Réseau des massothérapeutes professionnels du Québec has developed Training Meetings: Continuing Education Days. With this project, the Réseau is offering its members an opportunity to improve their knowledge of the practice of massage therapy while increasing their number of training hours.

2019–2020 Edition

To enable our members to improve their knowledge of the practice of massage therapy and increase their number of training hours, the Réseau returns with four days of training.

Again, this year, enjoy a unique practical training concept that will allow you to learn, practice, and integrate maneuvers directly on-site using massage tables provided for participants.

New: a fourth day offering a choice of 3 types of training

The Réseau is adding a fourth day of training to its program, when a choice of three courses will be offered to therapists.

Programming

The training last approximately 6 hours (9 am to 4:30 pm). For their part, participants are expected for 8:30 am.

Training offered

Neuromuscular massage

— October 19,
November 2 and 16Ostéodynamie - Réseau des massothérapeutes

Neuromuscular massage is a progressive massage that works the muscles from superficial to deep levels. It stimulates the neuro-integumentary system to achieve effective relaxation of muscular fibres in clients with complex muscular problems. This technique has many advantages for therapists, as it is:

  • Segmented: a therapist can use is as a complementary technique that will work when other techniques have failed;
  • Specific to muscle relaxation, as opposed to sensory experience;
  • Suitable for a clinical clientele with more specific needs;
  • Effective in acting on both the superficial and deep musculature;
  • Indicated when there is a problem or pain (muscular system);
  • Indicated for stress management (nervous system).

Required material:

  • Flat sheets to cover both the table and the therapist (X 2)
  • Hand towels (X 2)
  • Paper and pen for notetaking
  • Comfortable clothing for the day and swimsuit for the massage (two-piece for women, one-piece for men).

Trainers:

The content of this training was developed by the Académie de massage scientifique and will be presented by experienced teachers in massage therapy and orthotherapy.

Integrated fascia therapy (complete)

— February 1Massage californien - Réseau des massothérapeutes

Integrated fascia therapy combines various techniques with the common goal of releasing superficial, intermediate, and deep fascia. This course introduces the therapist to techniques that, through the fascial system, act on pressure-sensitive bodily structures.

Required material:

  • Course notes
  • Sheet
  • Bolsters

Trainers:

The content of this training was developed by the Kiné-Concept Institute and will be presented by Sébastien Motion.

Integrated manual lymph drainage

— February 1Drainage lymphatique manuel intégré

The purpose of integrated manual lymph drainage is to work on the lymphatic system. The therapist is guided in learning a modern work methodology designed for the reality and field of intervention of massage therapists. The basic anatomical and physiological knowledge necessary for understanding the lymphatic system and its multiple functions will be addressed, so that the therapist can use the tools learned safely and effectively.

Required material:

  • Paper and pen for course notetaking
